What is RBI Grade B Officer Exam?
RBI Grade B Exam is conducted by Reserve Bank of India for the recruitment of Officers in Grade ‘B’ (General) – DR, DEPR (Department of Economic & Policy Research) and DSIM (Department of Statistics and Information Management) in Common Seniority Group (CSG).
This is considered to be the most precious banking job because of nice service conditions, attractive salary and perks.
Eligibility
As per the RBI notification a candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 as on the cut off date given in the notification. Relaxation in age is as per the government norms.
Minimum Educational qualification required for the Officers in Grade ‘B’ (General) – DR, is a bachelor degree with 60% marks in 10th, 12th and in bachelor degree (50% for reserved categories).
Selection Process
RBI Grade B Officer selection process comprises of three stages which are Phase I, Phase II and Interview. Therefore, it is a three stages selection process. This exam is quite difficult and each stage required through preparation.
RBI Grade B Officer Exam Pattern
Phase I exam for general posts comprises of 4 sections. There are objective type questions from General Awareness, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning. The total marks of the exam are 200 and duration will be 120 minutes. This will be an online test.
Phase II exam comprises two objective papers and one descriptive type paper. These papers are Economic and Social Issues, English (writing skills) and Finance and Management. This exam will be of 300 marks and duration will be 270 minutes.
The last stage will be Interview which will be of 50 marks.
RBI Grade B Officer Salary and Perks
Initial basic salary is Rs. 35150 in the pay scale of Rs. 35150-1750 (9)-50900-EB-1750 (2)-54400-2000 (4)-62400. The Officer is also eligible for Dearness Allowance, Local allowance, House Rent Allowance, Family allowance and Grade Allowance. Initial gross emoluments are approx. Rs. 80000.
There are various perks such as Bank’s accommodation, reimbursement of expenses for maintenance of vehicle for official purpose, newspaper, telephone charges, book grant, allowance for furnishing of residence.
There is medical facility also available for these officers. Other attractions are interest free festival advance, Leave Fare Concession, loans and advances at concessional rates of interest for Housing, Vehicle, Education, Consumer Articles, Personal Computer, etc.
RBI Grade B: Points to Remember
Cut Off: For final selection in this exam candidates need to qualify sectional as well as overall cut off in every phase of RBI Grade B exam.
Phase I: Phase I of the RBI Grade B Exam is qualifying in nature and its marks are not added to decide the final merit list.
Negative Marking: There is provision of negative marking of 1/4th in this exam.
Final Selection: Candidates who qualify both the phases with minimum aggregate cut off marks are shortlisted for the RBI Grade B Interview. The minimum aggregate cut off marks are decided by the RBI Recruitment Board considering the number of vacancies. The Interview of the RBI Grade B exam is of 50 marks.
