Friends in this post I am going to tell you about how to prepare for SSC CGL Tier I GK. SSC CGL Exam is very near now and it is very important to pay attention towards this very important section of this exam.
Before going detail into the article let us first see the exam pattern of SSC CGL Tier I. Here is the pattern.
It should also be noted by students that there is Negative Marking of 0.50 Marks in this Exam. So take care of this aspect. Remember that there is no Section wise Cut Off in this Exam. A good score in GA section will boost your overall score.
General Awareness paper will play crucial role in your success because it is the most difficult paper among the four. The level of SSC GA always remains high therefore a through preparation is required. Anyone can prepare for other three sections in short duration however for GK preparation through studies are required.
In this post I will tell you important areas which you should cover while preparing for the SSC CGL Tier I GK. The cut off for the SSC CGL has increased over last three years. Therefore with good preparation of GA section you can easily qualify the Tier I.
Your objective should be to score 20 questions or 40 marks as far as SSC CGL Tier I GK paper is concerned. Anything above will be an extremely good score. Even score above 15 questions is a decent score but your aim should be 20 questions. It is important to set your own target as without proper aim achievement would be difficult.
Further, this section you can score very quickly. Try to finish this section in a maximum of 10 minutes time. If you are well prepared you can easily solve it in 10 or less minutes. Solving it in less time will provide you extra time for other sections.
SSC CGL is one of the most popular competitive exams of India and lakhs of candidates appear in this exam making the competition very tough. This year more than 30 lacs applications have been received by SSC for CGL Examination 2017. So you can understand the level of competition.
Now coming back to SSC CGL Tier I GK section. General awareness is not something you can expect to master in a short duration. This section appears very vast but with regular preparation you can easily cover all the topics. First you should do a through study of all the topics mentioned as under:-
General Science: For General Science you should first study the basic concept from a 8th or 10th level books. NCERT books are best to understand the concept, thereafter you should study from books such as year book or GK Guides. You should also attempt previous years papers frequently as many questions repeat every year. There will be questions on physics, chemistry, biology and every day science.
History: In SSC exams normally questions from Indian History are being asked. You should throughly study the Indian History consisting of Ancient History, Medieval History, Modern India and Freedom Movement.
Indian Polity: In this section the major topics to remember are History of Constitution, Constitutional developments, Preamble, Borrowed features of Constitution, important articles, fundamental rights and duties etc. Again NCERT books will help you to understand the basic concepts.
Geography: In SSC exams most of time questions are from Indian Geography. You should cover all the chapters of Indian Geography. Take help of NCERT books for better preparation.
Indian Economy: This is another important section of the GA. Study this from NCERT books and from GK Guides.
