Attractive recruitment for the posts of EPFO Assistants has been announced, in this post I am going to tell you in details about the EPFO Assistant Exam Pattern and syllabus.
The selection process consists of Preliminary Examination and Mains Examination. The exam pattern is very much similar to various other competitive exams such as SSC, Banks and Insurance Exams. If you are preparing for such exams on a regular basis, you will not face any difficulty to tackle EPFO Assistant Exam.
Prelims Exam – Phase I
Preliminary Examination consisting of Objective Tests for 100 marks will be conducted online. This test is of 60 minutes and 3 sections will be there. There will be separate timings for each of the section. The Preliminary Exam Pattern is as under:
You can see that in the preliminary examination candidates will have to attempt three sections viz. English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability. The sections are to be attempted in a specified period of time which is 20 minutes for each of the three sections. There will be 100 questions of 100 marks. In English Language the number of questions is 30 while in Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability there will be 35 questions each. Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability will be available in both Hindi and English.
Preliminary exam is of qualifying in nature and those who qualify Prelims exam will be called for the interview. Normally the ratio for the selection in mains is 1:10 which means that 10 times the number of vacancies will be called for the mains exam. There will be negative marking of one fourth of the mark, 1 mark will be deducted for attempting 4 questions wrongly.
Mains Exam – Phase II
Main Examination consists of Objective Tests for 200 marks and Descriptive Test for 30 marks. Both the Objective and Descriptive Tests are online. Candidates have to answer Descriptive test by typing on the computer. The descriptive test will commence after the completion of the Objective Test. The marks obtained in the mains examination will be the basis for the final selection. The Main Exam Pattern is as under:
You can see that in the mains examination candidates will have to attempt four sections viz. Reasoning/Intelligence, General/Economy/Financial Awareness, English Language and Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability. The will be a Descriptive Paper (English Language with emphasis of comprehension and analysis) in which candidates have to do precis writing, letter writing and comprehension. The breakup of number of questions, marks and timing are mentioned in the table above.
There is also provision of Negative Marking of one fourth of the mark, 1 mark will be deducted for attempting 4 questions wrongly. However If a question is left blank and no answer is marked by the candidate, there will be no penalty for that question. The negative marking will be applicable for both preliminary and mains exam.
